Wakha Privacy Policy

Wakha is a voice translation app. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes.

What we collect

Voice recordings. When you tap the talk button or use voice input, your speech is recorded and sent to our server, which forwards it to the AI services below to produce the translation. We keep a copy of the recording and its translation on our server so we can measure and improve translation quality, particularly for Moroccan Darija, which is poorly served by existing translation tools. We retain these copies indefinitely for that purpose. They are stored against a random device identifier, never against your name, email, or Apple Account, and are never used to identify you, build a profile, or serve advertising. To request deletion of recordings from your device, contact us at the address below and include your device identifier from Settings.

Typed text. Text you type for translation is processed the same way.

Purchase information. If you subscribe, purchases are processed by Apple and managed by RevenueCat (our subscription infrastructure). We receive an anonymous identifier and subscription status — never your payment details.

Third-party AI providers

To perform translation and speech, your voice recordings and text are shared with:

  • Google Gemini (Google LLC) — converts speech to text and translates it.
  • ElevenLabs — converts translated text into spoken audio.

    • These providers process the data to provide the service. You consent to this sharing in the app before any audio is sent.

    What we do not do

    We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not track you across other apps or websites. The app does not require an account.

    Retention

    Saved phrases and conversations are stored on your device and are deleted when you delete the app. Copies of your recordings and their translations are also retained on our server to improve translation quality, as described above. You can request deletion of your server-side recordings at any time by contacting us with the device identifier shown in Settings.
